October 2020
At the end of September, I had to evacuate for 7 days due to the Glass Fire and am still catching up on several things. Our house is fine, and we have returned. On the right is a map of how close it was. The green lines represent the active fires that were of concern during the red flag warning days.
Sonoma County received a payout from PG&E for the 2017 Nuns and Tubbs fires. I have written to my local county supervisor to suggest some of the funds could go to community grants for wildfire preparation and vegetation management.
It is a busy time with getting a newsletter out, complete with announcing the winners from our haiku promotion. We are also looking for a social media intern to help us out with all things social. We need to create a logo for our new program, CIRCLE4.0, that illustrates amplifying the urban forest. I am looking at new ways to display program reports on the website that are more engaging for the viewer. Finally, we are busy creating some new infographics about health and urban forestry.
