Call to Order – Nancy called the meeting to order at 12:05 PM

The board reviewed and approved the agenda with an addition added by Nancy Hughes.

Addition added: vote for accepting the Coastal Conservancy grant

  • Agenda. Unanimously approved at 12:05.

Consent Calendar – (Unanimously approved)

Old Business – 

  • Follow up on the training sessions. Equity training follow-up for working out who we need on the board; youth, more diverse representation from California communities. Committee to follow up.
  • Mona spoke about an executive committee or a development board as a starting point for developing a more diverse board.
  • Do we need any follow-up on lobbying?
  • Discussion on fundraising training. Before taking the training Elizabeth mentioned we need to work out our goals, etc.
  • Discussion about fundraising ideas and options in the future.
  • Gordon talking about the annual awards and new categories. Could we have an award for projects in each region so that we give recognition to local projects? Discussion around do we want to change the award categories; for instance, should we add an award for a project that aims to tackle climate change. Gordon needs to get a team together.

12.47 PM Vote on Coastal Conservancy grant:

  • Voted unanimously approved.

12.48 PM Vote on Nick Harvey board application:

  • Certain areas on the application were left blank, so the board decided Nick needs to fully complete the application.

12.53 PM Kit Jory accepted onto the board last but has not participated. Gordon volunteered to call Kit.

12.54 PM Matt Deines resigned his seat on the board.

12.55 PM Regional Councils

  • Sara Davies is the new representative for the Central Coast.
  • City Forest Renewal grant includes a requirement for the cities to update their policies in order to have their dead, diseased and dangerous trees removed. We have a webinar that each region can host that goes with the grant.
