The Significance Of Schools Grounds

February 8, 2018 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm

Free

Bill Sullivan, Professor and Head of Landscape Architecture University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

Professor Sullivans research has demonstrated that regular contact with urban green infrastructure—places with trees, grass, rain gardens, and the like—has profound, positive impacts for individuals and communities. These urban green spaces need not be large or pristine to convey a variety of broad-ranging out-comes. They must, however, be easily accessible from a person’s home or workplace. Professor Sullivan will focus much if his presentation on the significance of trees and greenspace on school property and within the learning environment. Join us for a lively discussion of how the built environment impacts human health and wellbeing; and how we can create settings that promote health and wellness for individuals, families, and our community.
