CAUFC Communications Channels

Email subscribers: 4,040

The number of email subscribers has increased slightly over the past few months.

Facebook page followers: 1,434
Twitter: 1,115
Instagram: 453

Facebook followers have picked up slightly, as has Instagram. More frequent posting is helping our follower counts grow.

Email Audience & Newsletter Performance

Good news. Our audience is opening our newsletters more, with 19% highly engaged, opening our messages and clicking our links often. 12% interact sometimes, and 66% engage rarely. The ‘rarely’ category has dropped by 6% in the past months.

We put out a June newsletter but didn’t get one out in July due to a number of other priorities. The June newsletter had a good open rate of 20.9% or 824 opens and our audience clicked through on our drought campaign, our haiku promotion, our social media channels and to find out more about the annual awards. Clicks through to Instagram were greater than to Facebook.

Healthy Tree, Healthy Me

On hold. We have been developing more content for the Healthy Tree, Healthy Me campaign. The focus at the moment is infographics from a study that shows a correlation between canopy coverage and lower health care costs. We will share them here when they are ready. We are getting this ready to go once the study has been peer-reviewed.

Save our trees, and save water

Our campaign is to educate people that there are many small things you can do to save water around the home and garden that you can use to save your trees. To emphasize that trees are a priority, our text leads with “save our trees” while you are also saving water. On social media, we are asking people to take the 5-gallon challenge. As most young trees need 5-gallons of water to survive, we are showing how easy it is to collect these 5 gallons a week. We have a page on our site with numerous tips for saving water to save trees and have been sharing those on our social media channels. More posts are scheduled in the future. See some below.

Financial Reports

Most of the outstanding annual financial reports have been added to the website. 2017 is still a work-in-progress and will be completed next month.

Visits peaked with some of our webinars in April this year.

Page Views (last year): 4,906

Visits to the IFGU site are often from new visitors and over 30% are coming from mobile devices and tablets. Therefore, I am planning to make the design of the site to be more mobile-first.
