“SECTION 7. DIRECTOR ELECTIONS – Elections for directors shall be held annually for open/vacant positions. Directors may be elected by members or directors as established by the Board of Directors. Members or directors may only cast one vote for each candidate. The candidates receiving the highest number of votes sequentially, up to the number of available director positions to be elected shall be elected. Each member or director shall cast only one ballot, with voting being by official ballot only. “Equity Session”

Each session is custom-designed for the audience and what their goals are, but generally, it will be 1.5+ hours and consist of about three of the following components:

  1. Introduction to Equity
  2. Defining Key Terms
  3. Interactive activities, small group discussions
  4. Fixed Mindset vs. Growth Mindset ==> Antiracist Growth Mindset
  5. Disruption for Good (why it is necessary to disrupt the status quo and institutionalized practices to be equity-advancing)
  6. Intro to Diversity and Inclusion
  7. Implicit Bias
  8. IMPACT Equity Toolkit Training — this is a longer training that provides simple tools (think “equity lens”) for looking at your own policies and practices and discovering inequities, finding evidence, and then making recommendations for change

Bolder Advocacy Proposal

AFJ’s Bolder Advocacy program would be pleased to provide a 1.5-hour online training session for your board of directors and guests. The Bolder Advocacy trainer will conduct a prep call with you or someone you designate to help us better understand current (or planned) advocacy activities and refine the training content. Training participants will receive handouts of the customized PowerPoint slides, a link to the recording which will be active for 60 days, and links to relevant Bolder Advocacy publications.

AFJ will work with you to determine mutually agreeable dates. You indicated that the third Thursday of February or March at noon would be preferable. Is this correct?

The training will cover:

  • How federal tax law permits lobbying for charities and how lobbying is defined;
  • How federal tax law permits lobbying for charities and how lobbying is defined;
  • One easy step most charities can take to maximize the amount they’re allowed to spend on lobbying;
  • Yearly lobbying limits for charities;
  • Tips for taking advantage of the narrow definitions of lobbying – which will help charities make the most of their lobbying limit; and
  • The application of these rules to ballot measure activities.

The cost of this training will be $1000.

What are Klein & Roth’s fees?  
Our fees vary depending on the kind of work an organization wants. Keynotes generally range from $2,500 to $5,000, day-long trainings are $1,800 to $3,000, fundraising program assessments range from $4,000 to $7,000, and consultation or coaching is billed by the hour at $185 to $250. Our clients are mostly small to mid-sized social justice organizations and we will work with you to keep the fees reasonable and affordable.
